Evie Begy

In her nest

Evie Begy

Welcome to 'In Her Nest'

A new blog series by Pehr that celebrates motherhood, family, and the spaces lovingly created for little ones. Each month, we’ll step inside the homes of inspiring women, offering a glimpse into the routines, rituals, and thoughtful details that make their nests uniquely their own. For our next feature, we’re invited into the home of Toronto-based media executive and first-time mama, Evie Begy, and the warm, whimsical nest she’s created for her family.

Evie’s nest is filled with heart—both joyful and intentional, cozy yet refined. Every corner tells a story of family, love, and legacy, woven together with whimsy, warmth, and a touch of stardust.

Meet Evie

Evie Begy is a first-time mama to her baby girl, Blake, living in Toronto with her husband, Mike. She is the General Manager of The Kit, Torstar’s award-winning beauty and fashion publication, and also serves as Managing Director of Sales for the Toronto Star’s lifestyle vertical, spanning entertainment, travel, philanthropy, fashion, beauty, and the Montreal and New York markets.

Passionate about children’s health, Evie supports Holland Bloorview through the Catalyst Council and the Hospital for Sick Children through Innovators. She’s a lover of great food, great company, and great shoes but above all, she treasures family most.

Tell us a little about your family. Who’s in your nest?

We are a busy family of three. Mike and I dreamed a little dream of Blake and now that our baby girl is here, she’s everything we wished for and more. We have a tight knit extended family, so we love welcoming them into our home for visits and stays.

What’s a piece of advice about motherhood you come back to again and again?

It’s okay to ask for help. When they say it takes a village, it really does take a village. You don’t have to do this journey alone. Whether that’s through having some newborn support so you can heal, through having a grandma cuddle and a home-cooked meal, or through a mom-group that repeatedly saves the day with all of your questions, there’s power in numbers. Having so much support and love around my daughter—and myself—has helped me recharge and refill my cup. It’s made this journey more fulfilling than I ever could have imagined.

What daily rituals or little moments bring you the most joy in your home?

Nothing beats waking up to the happiest, smiliest baby. We love a cuddly, slow weekend morning in our PJs – especially when Dad is making us his delicious brunch. Blakie helps us whip up great cortados and we sit together as a family. Being together after a busy week is the best gift of all.

What products help make your nest your own?

In building Blake’s nursery, we worked with the designer who actually designed my childhood nursery. It was a beautiful full circle moment. We decided to bring in art pieces of art that she and I created to make the space feel personal and special. Over the change table, I painted a linear canvas to represent each of the days I carried Blake. I collected bunnies growing up, so Donna (from Bannisters design) painted two playful watercolour pieces of bunnies catching stars.

Beyond the whimsical, we also wanted to ensure that we had functional flow in the space. I’m a big believer that you can combine aesthetics and ergonomics to make your life organized and calm, which is why we leaned into our Pehr pom pom storage. Even before having Blake, I had a multi-coloured hamper from Pehr in my condo. The brand has been in my life for years and now I get to share that with my daughter.

What’s your favourite corner or object in your home and why?

My favourite piece in our home is the painted mural on Blake’s ceiling. Growing up, my sister placed glow in the dark stars on her ceiling and though my parents house has been redone, they still remain on there in the guest room. I wanted to bring that moment to Blake’s room to inspire her as she plays and sleeps at night. We want her to dream big because the world can be hers. Plus, with where I work, stars just felt fitting.

Layered with personal touches, playful details, and deep sentiment, her home is a celebration of family and new motherhood—where love shows up in painted ceilings, weekend cuddles, and every thoughtfully chosen corner.
